Second Annual Montvale Plaza KLS Fundraise a Huge Success

On March 21, 2008, 350 friends and family of the Penney’s attended a fundraiser for KLS at the Montvale Plaza in Stoneham, Massachusetts.  The festive, fun filled night consisted of dinner and dancing to a live band.  The band was a huge hit and the dance floor was packed all night.

There was a silent auction with fabulous items including a ski condominium for one week, golf packages, day spa treatments and signed sports memorabilia.  Guests also enjoyed purchasing 200 mystery Easter eggs that each contained a number redeemable for a gift.  The donated Easter eggs gifts included wine, gourmet pasta baskets, gift certificates to restaurants, hair salon and spa treatments, bakery treats and many more wonderful gifts.

Christine Penney spoke about how her son, who was diagnosed three years ago, deals with KLS.  She read her son’s college application essay that described in his own words how he is challenged and the affects KLS has on his life.  He wrote about how he feels going through a KLS episode.  He expressed how important it has been for him to continue playing on his high school hockey team. With the support of family and his teammates he maintains a positive outlook, appreciates every day he is well and participates in normal high school life.

Christine says that having such a wonderful community contributed to the success of the night. Local businesses and friends made generous donations of goods and services.  Thanks to an incredible group of friends, the event was a huge success for guests and for the KLS Foundation.
